Arkansas Science Teachers Association

ASTA purpose is to promote within the teaching group the highest professional practices, to encourage science teachers to exercise the right and privilege to accept leadership in scientific affairs, and to encourage effective cooperation among existing science teaching organization, educational institutions and agencies which similarly seek to advance science education.

Arkansas Council for the Social Studies

The mission of the Arkansas Council for the Social Studies is to strengthen social studies education in the state of Arkansas. Members include elementary, middle and secondary, private and public, university professors and instructors, school administrators, and non-education professionals who recognize the importance of a strong social studies background for our young citizens.

Arkansas Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts

We are a nonprofit organization whose aim is the improvement of the teaching and learning of English and language arts in the state of Arkansas. ACTELA provides a variety of services to meet the diverse needs of its members.

The Arkansas Department of Education strives to ensure that all children in the state have access to a quality education by providing educators, administrators and staff with leadership, resources and training.

Arkansas Department of Higher Education

The Arkansas Department of Higher Education consists of a group of hard working and dedicated professionals seeking to maximize the success of Arkansas’s colleges and universities and the students they serve.  The agency manages the state’s scholarship and financial aid programs; recommends higher education and institutional budgets to the legislature, assures academic program quality and viability; provides professional development for faculty and staff; provides educational support to business and industry; provides institutional accountability; and promotes the importance of postsecondary education in enhancing both personal and community quality of life.

Presidential Awards for Excellence

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the Nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science. The Awards recognize outstanding K-12 teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession.

Arkansas STRIVE

The Arkansas STRIVE program provides teachers with hands-on, real-world experiences that expand their scientific and technological knowledge.

Masters in Education Programs

The organization recognizes the need for more skilled and passionate educators in all areas of specialization including Mathematics. To help promote excellence in education by encouraging more Master's prepared educators, the organization has compiled a free comprehensive state-by-state directory of colleges and universities in the U.S. offering Master's programs in education which are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).  This resource is useful to both professional educators considering a graduate degree as well as those seeking initial teacher certification via a graduate program.
