About Us

The mission of the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics is to provide vision and leadership in improving the teaching and learning of mathematics so that every student is ensured of an equitable standards-based mathematics education and every teacher of mathematics is ensured the opportunity to grow professionally.   

ACTM sponsors major professional development events for mathematics teachers every year:

  • Arkansas Curriculum Conference 
  • Teachers Teaching with Technology™ Regional Conference
  • Mathematics and Science Summer Professional Development Institute at UCA 

ACTM provides financial support in the forms of scholarships and grants:

  • State Mathematics Contest and 16 Regional Mathematics Contests for students are held every spring.  The winners of the state contests receive scholarships totaling $4,000.
  • Teachers who are ACTM members are eligible to apply for scholarships and project grants of $500, for a total of $3,000 awarded per year. 

Members receive three 40+ page newsletters per year in April, August and December:

  • ACTM newsletter won the 2011 NCTM Affiliate Publication Award
  • Content Corner articles for all levels: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Statistics, Calculus, and Leadership
  • Articles about recent and upcoming events
  • Newsletters available in online archive to members only

 
AAML-Arkansas Association of Mathematics Leaders

The Arkansas Association of Mathematics Leaders is a new affiliate organization to ACTM organized to support mathematics specialists, coaches, lead teachers, and other types of leaders. ARMATH Listserve
