About ACTM
The mission of the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics is to provide vision and leadership in improving the teaching and learning of mathematics so that every student is ensured of an equitable standards-based mathematics education and every teacher of mathematics is ensured the opportunity to grow professionally.

ACTM strives to be the hub of knowledge for Arkansas’ mathematics teachers for all the topics relevant to their profession, including upcoming events, the latest interesting or helpful content information, and the experiences of other teachers around the state. This knowledge is shared through three printed newsletters per year and through the website.

This website has undergone a major renovation in order to serve the ACTM members better now and in the future.  The features in the Main Menu and Downloads menu are available for public access.  Log in to access the User Menu features such as the newsletter archive, forum, and options to manage your account, such as membership renewal.

ACTM is a sponsor of major professional development events for mathematics teachers every year.  Among these are the Arkansas Curriculum Conference and the Teachers Teaching with Technology™ Regional Conference.  We have also recently renewed our support for the Mathematics and Science Summer Professional Development Institute at UCA.

The Arkansas Curriculum Conference is held in November in conjunction with the science, social studies, and language arts teacher organizations.  It affords close to 500 pre-Kindergarten through college mathematics teachers the opportunity to attend presentations on teaching strategies and technology along with 1,000 of their colleagues.

The Teachers Teaching with Technology™ Regional Conference is held in January or February each year and targets mathematics and science teachers specifically on using technology to create more effective and interesting lessons.

The Mathematics and Science Summer Professional Development Institute is held around the 3rd week of July each year at UCA and is organized and carried out by the Arkansas Center for Mathematics and Science Education.

ACTM also sponsors the State Mathematics Contest and 16 Regional Mathematics Contests every spring.  The winners of the state contests receive scholarships and awards totaling more than $4,000.

Teachers who are ACTM members are also eligible to apply for scholarships and project grants worth more than $3,000.
